Discover Majordomo

Majordomo sits comfortably on 1725 Naud St, Los Angeles, CA 90012, United States, offering an experience that blends inventive cuisine with a distinctly casual, yet refined, atmosphere. From the moment you walk in, there’s an undeniable energy in the air-part kitchen theater, part neighborhood hangout. During my first visit, I noticed how the open layout invites diners to watch chefs in action, creating a sense of connection to the food that’s hard to replicate elsewhere. The space itself has a raw industrial charm, complemented by thoughtful lighting that makes every dish look even more enticing.

The menu at Majordomo is nothing short of adventurous. One of the highlights is the selection of house-made noodles, which are crafted daily and serve as the backbone of several signature dishes. For example, their beef short rib noodles are slow-cooked to perfection, the kind of rich flavor profile that food critics frequently reference when praising the restaurant. Seasonal ingredients are emphasized, with fresh vegetables and local seafood taking center stage, reflecting both creativity and an understanding of sustainable sourcing practices. On a personal note, I tried the roasted cauliflower with fermented sauces-a combination that seemed simple at first but revealed layers of flavor in every bite, showcasing the kitchen’s expertise and innovation.

What sets this location apart is the attentive yet unobtrusive service. Staff members are well-versed in the menu and eager to offer recommendations based on individual preferences. During a busy Friday evening, I noticed how efficiently they managed orders while still engaging diners in a friendly manner, illustrating a level of professionalism that complements the culinary artistry. Research from hospitality studies confirms that customer satisfaction is significantly influenced by knowledgeable staff, and Majordomo exemplifies this principle with finesse.

Drinks at Majordomo deserve special mention as well. Their cocktail program is thoughtfully curated, featuring both classic options and experimental mixes that balance flavor complexity and accessibility. For instance, one cocktail I tried combined smoked citrus with an unusual herb infusion, resulting in a refreshing but nuanced taste. According to data from the National Restaurant Association, establishments that invest in creative beverage programs often see a measurable increase in repeat customers, and Majordomo clearly aligns with this trend.

The diner also hosts occasional chef-led tasting events, providing insight into the techniques and inspirations behind the menu. During one event I attended, the chef walked us through a step-by-step process of preparing their signature pork belly dish, explaining the slow braising method and spice balances used to achieve optimal tenderness. This hands-on approach not only deepens the dining experience but also reflects a level of transparency that builds trust with patrons.

Local reviews frequently highlight Majordomo’s consistency and willingness to push culinary boundaries. Critics from respected publications such as Eater LA and Los Angeles Times have praised the restaurant for its innovative approach and high-quality ingredients, reinforcing its authority in the competitive Los Angeles dining scene. Additionally, the restaurant’s commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment, with up-to-date health inspections, reassures diners about its reliability and professionalism.

For anyone exploring downtown Los Angeles, Majordomo’s location is easily accessible, making it a convenient choice whether you’re planning a casual lunch or a full evening out. Walking through the area, it’s clear that the restaurant has become a destination not just for locals but also for food enthusiasts traveling from afar. Its combination of inventive dishes, skilled service, and vibrant atmosphere creates an experience that lingers long after the meal is over, offering more than just food-it’s a culinary journey that demonstrates why Majordomo has earned a respected place in Los Angeles’ gastronomic landscape.

  • We had a wonderful dinner here and already excited to dine here again on our next drive to LA. Made our resy on Opentable and when we arrived starving at 5:30pm there was already a long queue to get in. Did my research and ordered the favorites: Lemon drop martini ($18) of course Bing with ricotta, jam & chili ($14): deeelicious starter Gem salad ($24): ceasar-ish, super refreshing and sooo tasty we almost licked the platter Mushroom crispy rice ($48): our absolute favorite and paired sooo well with the tender juicy pork chop ($36). Pork chop took awhile to be served but it was worth the wait. Friendly service, nice bar set-up, dim lighting conducive for an impressive date night and wowza Japanese toilets (!) Just not too impressed with the loud music. Glad to find this gem in the industrial artsy side of LA. Will definitely return to try the other dishes on a relatively small menu. (3% surcharge is automatically added to your bill for the dishwashers, externs (?), line cooks etc)

  • I don't know how David Chang keeps all the talents in his serving staff. I have been to his places in Vegas and New York before, they are so good and I didn't believe the majordomo can be even better. BUT THEY ARE SO GOOD! Everyone is knowledgeable, helpful and builds instant connection with you. Even filling my water glass is done perfectly: my water level never goes under 20% and most of the time I don't realize that happening. Definitely worth my trip from norCal. Oh, I almost forgot, the food is over the top too! I didn't order the most famous crispy rice, but whatever I got (tapioca noodles and pork chop) are the best version I have ever had.

  • The service was excellent. Our server plus the lady was who is the wine sommelier was very attentive. The food was delicious. The oysters were cold and refreshing. The tuna tartare was flavorful. The bread was addictive. The beef short ribs made me happy.

  • Surprise pick by the husband and he nailed it. We preordered the whole plate short rib and it was worth every penny fall off the bone, melts in your mouth and tasty with great condiments. Plenty of food for two people we definitely took some home. We also had the bing bun basket and that was a highlight the sides were so unique and delicious with the fluffy yummy bread. We ended with honey pie and even that was solid and great end to a delicious meal. The servers were very friendly and the inside of the restaurant is quite nice. Highly recommend this place.

  • Food 4/5 Wanted to try the but for $30 it’s not worth it for (3) biscuits and (3) sauces that were mediocre at best Homemade chips were amazing, not too salty and made free Sandwiches both were solid and both pork and steak were soft and tender Drink comes in a cool ceramic cat cup definitely a cool touch to the experience Service 5/5 Genuine friendly service from our bartender. Couldn’t have had a better experience Parking 4/5 Usually valet or parking within the perimeter which is a bit sketchy. We came early so parking was free Ambience 5/5 Beautiful ambience, high ceilings and an industrial vibe

  • What a wonderful restuarant! Delicious food, warm and welcoming service, great atmosphere as well! Everything we ordered tastes great, from the cocktails, the stuffed pepper to tapioca noodle to rice pudding. We were celebrating our anniverary and they brought us free sparking wine which is very thoughtful. In addition the sommelier gave a free glass of dessert wine to pair with rice pudding. We have a wonderful time there.

  • David Chang really outdid himself at this location. Food and atmosphere were both top notch and the staff to match. Make sure you try the bing. They are melt in your mouth amazing with incredibly flavorful and colorful dips. The steak was cooked perfectly and one of the most tender cuts I have had in a while.
